Alex's Room
John hung items on the walls today in Alex's room and vacuumed. He then exclaimed that this is the cleanest the room will be for the next 18 years. We figured that it was worth taking a few pictures.
Some of the items in the room are from my room growing up. My Mom made the two needlepoints hanging by the window and my Aunt Noreen painted the rainbow mirror. I've had the stuffed animal hammock for years. The "Alex" picture above the crib was a handmade baby shower gift from Tiffany who runs the stamp club that I've been going to for about six months now.
The room is ready for him now but will evolve over time. We are going to have to add a bookshelf soon for his growing collection of books. The TV is in there for late night feedings and will eventually move to another room. I am also thinking that more toys will be added beyond one box in the corner. His closet is pretty full of clothes that we have been given from newborn size up to 18 months. The kid also has quite a onesie collection, which we will be putting to good use soon.
Monday
March 2 is John's birthday. Since I found out that my due date is March 8th, I've joked that I am giving John a baby for his 30th birthday. This is a gift that will keep on giving!
Yesterday I found out that there is a very good chance that John and Alex will share a birthday. I went to the doctor and found out the my blood pressure is a little high. I've also been having a lot of swelling. She put my on bed rest for the weekend and has scheduled an induction for Monday, March 2 at 5:30 AM. I am also a centimeter dilated, so I think that my body is getting ready for this.
Once the shock wore off, I have been quite excited. I thought that we had another week or so, but we are mostly ready. Some things we will just have to learn as we go. I plan to post some pictures here sometime next week. Alex is almost here!

38 weeks
I'm 38 weeks along, hungry, and suffering from "pregnancy amnesia." (I misplaced my USB drive...) The good news is that I can send John out for ice cream.

37 Weeks
I am 37 weeks along, which brings us to the "full-term" mark. So far, I don't have any signs of Alex's immediate arrival. My due date (at 40 weeks) is March 8th.
Feeling Spoiled
I've been quite spoiled over the last week. Sharis and Kat hosted a baby shower for me on February 7th. It was great to catch up with friends and enjoy some good food. John surprised me with flowers for Valentine's Day. I am not sure how they made it to the house. I came home from work before John on Friday and they were on the table. I saw John over his lunch hour that day, so I know he did some kind of scheming on this one. We usually do not have lunch together, but he came to my office on Friday for a nice lunch and fun baby shower there. John and I picked up some more baby items today and I am feeling more ready. I think that the picture of the items on our kitchen table are pretty reflective of our lives right now: some parenting magazines to read, John's remote controlled helicopter, my flowers, and the car seat that we bought today for Alex.

Updates
I am now 36 weeks along. I think that I made the nursery messier over the weekend by starting to organize things. I have been washing some tiny clothes.
Frida is not a fan of the remote controlled helicopter flying around the house. I think that I am just going to accept that there will be toys all over the house for a while. (That is big kid and little kid toys!)

Dresser: After
John has finished the dresser and moved it into Alex's room. Now we need to organize the room. We've been fortunate to receive gifts and nice hand-me-downs from friends and family to get us ready for his arrival. I bought some diapers today with some coupons. Most parents I've talked to are Pampers or Huggies fans, so we'll see which camp we fall into after some trial-and-error. We are gradually getting closer to being ready for his arrival! Back to laundry...
Inner Child
I had a very nice Saturday with some friends. Kat and Sharis hosted a baby shower for me, and then we went to see he's just not that into you. (I liked the movie.) On the way to the movie, I called to check in with John, who was visiting Target stores with a friend in search of a secret toy. I thought that it might have something to do with the baby, but I came home to find a remote-controlled helicopter. (You can check out the Air Hog website here.) I am glad that my husband is in touch with his inner child, but I reminded him that he will have to share his toys with Alex in the future.

The weeks keep adding up as my due date of March 8th approaches. John and I finished our childbirth classes yesterday.
